Audi: The Doberhuahua hashtag #StayUncompromised
This 2014 Super Bowl commercial for Audi shows us the dire results of compromising. In this case, a man and his wife can’t decide on getting a Doberman or a Chihuahua so the pet-store salesman suggests compromising to breed a chihuahua and doberman to get a “doberhuahua”.
What they say and do:
(Man, holding a chihuahua): I think I like this little guy
(Lady, petting a doberman pinscher): I love this one
(Petyard salesman): You know you could always compromise and breed them together. Doberhuahua… Know what I mean?
The man and woman, imagining how a doberhuahua dog might act:
(Dog show announcers): I’ve never seen a breed like this. Nor have I. I don’t know what to make of it frankly. It’s unsettling. It’s disturbing to look at it directly. How did this dog get past regionals, that’s what I want to know.
(Sarah McLachlan): I’m Sarah McLachlan. Will you help these misunderstood animals? (the doberhuahua dog grabs her guitar)
Boy screams while riding his big-wheel and being chased by wild doberhuahuas. On screen we see the fine-print: Professional stunt. Do not attempt.
(Dog show announcers): I don’t like the fact that it’s looking this way. (doberhuahua runs toward the announcers to attack). That’s it! (runs away).
People screaming as doberhuahas run loose at a dog park: Doberhuahas! Save yourselves!
As the doberhuahas take over the city and cause chaos and mayhem, a young child in the back of a taxi-cab screams “they’re everywhere!”.
On screen: Compromise scares us too.
We then see the man and lady in front of the animal rescue shelter in their new Audi A3, with a dog that is neither a doberman or a Chihuahua as the man says “Much better”.
This Audi Super Bowl commercial makes no claims and has no deception, and is sure to be one of this year’s favorite commercials.
