Obamacare for America (July 2013)
In this commercial Stacey Lihn tells a story about her daughter Zoey who had her first open heart surgery when she was 15 hours old and how she can now afford healthcare because of Obamacare.
My daughter Zoey had her first open-heart surgery when she was only 15 hours old. Handing her over for surgery was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. Before Obamacare insurance companies could put lifetime caps on your health insurance. Once you hit that cap, they don’t pay anymore. Zoey was halfway to her cap before her first birthday.
Obamacare ended lifetime caps.
Thanks to Obamacare, we can now afford the care that Zoey needs. And for her, that’s a lifesaver
At the end of the commercial we see the tagline “Better coverage. Lower costs“
This short commercial has no outright deception, but many people may consider this commercial “deceptive by exclusion”. As is common with many politically based commercials on television and radio, it tells only one, isolated piece of the story and attempts to draw the viewer in with emotion rather than all of the facts.
