TV Commercial:
DAP XHose Pro; “The Only One”
Description:
In this new commercial for the upgraded DAP XHose Pro expanding hose, Michael Berardi the inventor of the XHose tells us why the DAP XHose Pro is the original, and the best expanding hose.
Partial transcript:
Are you confused by all the expanding hoses on the market? Don’t be fooled by imitations.
Hi, I’m Michael Berardi. I’m the inventor of the X-Hose, the original blue expanding hose. In fact, i’ve been awarded two U.S. patents for my invention. My X Hose is the only patented expanding hose on the market and it bears the trusted DAP products name.
Now I’m very proud to introduce my new DAP X-Hose Pro. With solid brass fittings, a wider 3/4 inch diameter and constructed from even stronger materials. Works like my original X Hose. Just turn the water on and my XHose Pro automatically expands and expands and expands as you effortlessly guide it to where you need to go and when you’re finished my XHose Pro will automatically follow you back and contract for easy storage. My DAP XHose Pro is great for homeowners and professionals.
(Heiko Sommerer, Whiteglove Mobile Detailing): I own a mobile detailing company and this hose saves me a lot of time and energy on my job. It never kinks, it is super light weight, and hardly takes up any space in my trailer.
(Michael Berardi): This 50 foot 3/4 inch rubber hose weighs over 11 pounds. My 50 foot 3/4 inch XHose Pro weighs only about 2 pounds. My DAP XHose Pro is actually made from a tough, multi layered expandable inner hose and a folded outer covering made from durable super-strong webbing. Because of it’s patented design, my XHose Pro will never kink. Get my new DAP XHose Pro for only $29.95 but call right now and get a second XHose Pro free, just pay processing and handling. My DAP X Hose Pro also comes with a lifetime quality guarantee. If it ever fails just return it for a free replacement.
Durable solid brass fittings, super strong materials strong enough to pull and SUV! 3/4 inch diameter for a powerful spray and incredibly light so call now! I promise you’ll love it!
Claims and what they mean:
This commercial for the new XHose Pro makes most of the same claims as the original DAP Xhose. To see our review of the original DAP XHose commercial, please click here.
- What the commercial said: This 50 foot 3/4 inch rubber hose weighs over 11 pounds. My 50 foot 3/4 inch XHose Pro weighs only about 2 pounds
- What most people might think that means: The DAP Xhose is much lighter than a regular rubber hose and only weighs 2 pounds
- Is it true?: Based on online reviews, it does appear that the XHose Pro is much lighter than a standard rubber hose however the claimed weight of two pounds only applies when the hose is completely empty and not in use.
- What the commercial said: My DAP XHose Pro is actually made from a tough, multi layered expandable inner hose and a folded outer covering made from durable super-strong webbing
- What most people might think that means: The XHose Pro will never break because it is made of super strong and durable materials
- Is it true?: Based on online reviews the Xhose Pro does not appear to be strong or durable, but the commercial never actually makes the claim that it will never break or burst or that it is actually strong or durable – only, that it is made from “durable super strong webbing”
- What the commercial said: XHose Pro will never kink
- What most people might think that means: This hose will never kink
- Is it true?: Based on online reviews seems that indeed, the Xhose Pro does not kink
- What the commercial said: Get my new DAP XHose Pro for only $29.95 but call right now and get a second XHose Pro free
- What most people might think that means: I can get two 50 foot long Xhose Pros like in the commercial for only $29.95
- Is it true?: Even though the longer 50-foot Xhose is shown and mentioned throughout the commercial, the price of $29.95 is for the 25-foot Xhose. Also, as mentioned there are additional shipping and handling fees for both XHoses. To get the 50 foot Xhose Pro the cost is $49.95 plus $9.95 shipping and handling. To get your second, free Xhose you must pay an additional $9.95 shipping and handling. Your total cost for your Xhose (as shown in the commercial) and your second, free Xhose is $69.85 +Tax
- What the commercial said: My DAP X Hose Pro also comes with a lifetime quality guarantee. If it ever fails just return it for a free replacement
- What most people might think that means: If my X Hose Pro ever breaks, I can get a new one for free
- Is it true?: We are unable to find any details on the XHose Pro money back guarantee, other than what is shown on the “Lifetime Guarantee” logo/picture at the www.xhosepro.com website which reads: “Lifetime Guarantee – if it ever fails we’ll replace it! Just pay S&H”; This means that to get your new, free replacement, you will have to pay unspecified shipping and handling fees. There is also a line on the website that says the replacement guarantee only applies if you buy the Xhose Pro online or via telephone order (ie; not if you buy it at the store)
Update: Customer Service for DAP XHose and X Hose Pro

Summary:
The DAP XHose Pro commercial makes all of the same basic claims as the original XHose commercial. Some true, some deceptive, some may not be not true.
Don’t buy it !!!
Purchased two (2) of the 75′ hoses and was supposed to receive a free 25′ with each hose. No 25′ hoses. They are light weight and much easier to handle than a normal hose, but after only an hour of washing down my driveway, it “blew’. The outer covering split about a foot long and the beautiful blue inter tube blew up like a balloon. I find it interesting that there are no 800 numbers or other means to contact them for customer service help.
if ordered on line call 800-554-5925 National Express Inc
I had 2 dap x hoses pro explode on me . Company wants me to pay postage to send back .I will not I can buy a regular hose instead. They work better. The x hose pro is junk from China.
#167-76113100141074817001 One of the hoses I boughtBLOW UP ON ME WITH A BIG HOLE.PLEASE SEND ME A PREPAID SHIPING AND HANLING.SO I CAN GET A NEW ONE. THANKYOU.
you will probably want to go to the DAP X-Hose website. This website is not afilliated with DAP and nobody here can help you
ONE OF THE HOSES I BOUGHT,BLOW A BIG HOLE IN IT. #167-761133100141074817001 PLEASE SEND ME A PREPAID SHIPING LABLE.
I have now had two of these hoses blow up during use. The first hose last for 5 uses ( about 50 minutes), the second lasted for 10 minutes…I am returning them, but I am amazed that I have to pay shipping and handling…not great customer service or standing behind your product.
I purchased 2 50′ hoses and it took 2 months to receive them. I used one of them twice to water two plants yesterday and the day before. Today, my wife went to water the plants and the hose exploded. This hose was used for a total of maybe 10 minutes! Their replacement policy means you have to pay to ship the hose back to them, and pay another $9.95 for them to send another one back to you. So after paying a ridiculous $95.45 for two hoses you have to pay another $20 to get one replaced! They are apparently making a fortune on broken hoses.
Where did you find the phone number for customer service?
Yikes! Thanks for the reviews and the translations! We were two seconds from purchasing, then I decided to look at reviews.
Sorry for issues you all have been having! And, yes, the add is TOTALLY misleading. We thought we would receive two fifty foot hoses…but that’s not the case. Really crummy that a company would blatantly advertise and mislead. Be honest in advertising and have a great product and people will want more. If deceitful, forget about it. I’m moving on.
I forgot to add. When you send two hoses and charge s&h for BOTH, that is criminal. When you charge a customer to ship a replacement because your product is garbage, THAT IS CRIMINAL.
I bought a 50 footer and was expecting a second one free. I only got 1 hose. I haven’t tried it yet and after reading these comments I may not. I’ll keep it as a reminder that if something looks to good to be true on TV, it’s probably a piece of shit.
Hey Hal
FYI if you have access to a Sams Club, you can find them there. We just purchased two 50 footers for $39…no shipping, just tax. You can probably find them online at Samsclub.com
Ordered 2 – 50 footers weeks ago. Thought I would check with the credit card company to see if the hoses had been charged to my account as there was no conformation of my purchase sent to my email. Turns out the order didn’t go through. Seems I dodged a bullet. I should have taken the hint when there is no customer service number on their web site. I don’t like the way these people do business. BEWARE! This is a great idea, but it seems you can’t get a light weight hose that works. Too bad : (
Guess I’ll just buy an “old fashioned” hose. I liked the idea of this because I need to put them away as my young dog doesn’t quite have the concept that they aren’t for chewing and eating (and then throwing up) what he managed to get down. I though 2 pounds, fantastic! I can take it in or put it away easily. No thanks, I hate more problems and wasting money which I don’t have. Thanks for all your input, I really appreciate it!
Purchased two 75′ hoses. After one use it exploded. To return and have it replaced costs as much as it does to buy a new hose. What a ripoff. I’m sure they’ll continue to get away with it though.
I have just received my xhoses. I bought 2 and got one free. I have been reading the reviews after the fact and wondering if I made a mistake.
If I wanted to return these items, unused, would you send me a refund?
I am a sr. citizen and these look like they could be dangerous.
Please advise,
Barbara.
Barbara Brock: This is not the DAP XHose website and this website is in no way affiliated with DAP or XHose.
To request a refund you will have to contact the XHose company directly, which as many people have already mentioned here, is nearly impossible.
After having 2 hoses blow up within minutes of use, I did a lot of research and found that “DAP” does indeed own the product, but they are hesitant to admit it. I was able to obtain an 800 number from them and contacted the “X-hose” division. I have received 2 hoses under the warranty at no cost to me. I figure the best thing to do is to continue to demand replacements until they go out of business or start producing a product that meets the expectations advertised in the commercials.
We also experienced a problem with the fabulous (ha ha) X-hose. My husband used it 2 times before it blew up. We are suppose to return it to National Expresss, pay shipping and also send a check for $10.95 for them to send up a replacement. What number did u get from DAP to get your free replacement. We would greatly appreciate it. Was just about to send the old hose back today. Thanks for your review.

Steve,
O.K. I have decided to take a gamble and try the DAP XHose pro since it is staring at me and I do so want it to be everything they said it was on the web advertising. HOW DO YOU TURN THE VALVE!?!? I have tried and can not budge it. Do I need to hook it up to water first? HELP!!
It is obviously a little too tight. Spray a little WD-40 of the valve and use a pair of pliers to turn it. repeat the process until it turns easily enough for you to turn it by hand.
I have had experience with both XhosePro and Xhose. For information on XhosePro you can contact their agent (for on-line/phone orders) at “customerservice@nationalexpresstv.com” or call them at 203-852-0024. I have not had the hose which is supposed to have the brass fittings.
I have had several Xhoses bought on-line. Again the agent is National Express, Inc., same phone number.
When I called Xhose to complain about blowups on several hoses I was given an 800 number (800-554-5925). They actually replaced my hoses several times. They keep blowing up as described in these reviews. I was once advised that there was a 90 day warranty.
The concept, as all I’m sure agree, is fantastic. Works absolutely great – until they blow up. One precaution you need to take is NOT to STRETCH these hoses. Leave a bit of slack to the faucet.
Hope this is helpful.
Mr. Allen, thanks for the 800 number. I called this morning and they will ship me a Xhose-pro relacement. They just varified my address and phone number. Thanks again.
Gus
I just got off the phone with National regarding the Xhosepro – They state positively that there is a LIFETIME WARRANTY. I reached them at the 800 number above. Didn’t think to ask about the shipping question. But I do not think that it costs as much to ship something like that as they charge. Might be worth it.
Our son gifted us with two 25′ xhoses which we coupled together and enjoyed for about six months. Today the plastic connector cracked and burst. I got a shower instead of the flowers. Not happy with a product that has to be replaced biannually.
Loved the concept as well, bought the pocket hose, worked as promoted for three months, then popped, broken to point there is no way to repair it. Thought about the XhosePro thinking it might be better quality, and outside of brass fittings, looks like the same popping problem exists in this new more expensive hose. Sad, good concept, bad products.
I bought 2 xhoses and two of them had blown up in less then a week. I called the 800 number and they told me to send it back to this address National Express 400 Returns Rd. Wallingford Ct. 06494 and put the order # on the outside of the box I would send it send it return receipt.
I have just bought a X Hose Pro. I have had the flexible hose recently and of course it blew up at the fittings. I loved having the very light weight hose though, so I thought I would try again with the brass fittings. Since the first hose to go was in the sun, I’m hoping that keeping them protected or in the shade will help. The concept is just too awesome, I’m determined to make it work.
I have a big garden and a lot of potted plants. The concept of the X hose is great. It even feels great. Until it blows up. And it will, no matter how closely you follow the instructions. I have blown up 2. I was even going to try one more time, until I found the reviews. You have saved me from one more frustration. Thank you.
Having explored the issue of popping hoses on many forums, this is more than just an occasional problem, it is rampant and certainly not isolated. I was able to figure out how to repair my hose, and so far it is working, but I don’t expect getting more than a couple months out of it since it split once already. The latex inner water tube is the real issue, it cannot possibly be expected to hold up given the constant expansion and contraction it does, so I wonder, is this the weak link with design? I suspect so, and now with cold weather setting in, I wonder if this latex will crack when frozen? Anyone have failures after a freeze?
JUNK. With a capital J.
So far 3 have blown up within 4 weeks of purchase. Should have known all the hype about the PRO version was horse manure. Had the original…blew in two weeks. Ordered the PRO (got one freeeeee!) and both blew within 4 weeks. The only reason the the 2nd one took 4 weeks to blow was I kept it curled in a basket and only used it to water a potted plant right next to the hose. And yes…..followed ALL the instructions. Oh…..their customer service is actually worse than the product. Won’t be buying anything with the DAP name associated any time in the future.
Seems to me some enterprising young man could take a hint from the above emails and make a fortune for himself making a hose that REALLY works. A great concept that just needs tweaking! Have it made in the USA, and I would be their first customer! By the way, how ridiculous and misleading is their commercial where they tie an Xhose to the bumper of a truck and pull another with the hose, when in reality you can’t even stretch it a few inches attached to a faucet before it breaks and gushes water. FALSE ADVERTISING the attorney general might be interested in looking into.
As stated above, the concept is great and the X-hose plus with the brass fittings would be the real deal IF IT ONLY WORKED. The problem is this: In order for the hose to retract itself, the inside lining has to be very light by design. Because of this it has almost no burst strength AT ALL. If they increased the thickness of the lining, it wouldn’t retract. If the nylon jacket were thicker it wouldn’t retract either. The seemingly outstanding features of the hose is it is light and it retracts itself. Beefing it up to make it more durable would remove both features and make it an ORDINARY garden hose. If you must try it, be ready to request another. At this time they no longer request return nor do they charge for S/H. But the aggravation is hardly worth it.
I purchase two of the xhose pros and the first one I used twice and it exploded and the 2nd one exploded immediately.
I to bought two X-Hose pro’s and both blew one after the other. I’m going to see if you have to return and waste more money. If that’s the case, I’m cutting my losses and going back to the normal unruly hose. At least it will last more than two uses.
The XHose phone numbers are posted in the blog section (XHose Extras) of their site.
The 90-Day Warranty is posted in the “help” section. Not sure where the “LIfetime Guarantee” seal pictured above is from, can’t find it anywhere on their website. Maybe it’s been removed for a good reason.
The guarantee seal picture came from the website when this review was made. Also, if you read the transcript from the commercial at the time you’ll see: “.. DAP X Hose Pro also comes with a lifetime quality guarantee. If it ever fails just return it for a free replacement. “
I really don’t care about how to exchange it or how to get my money back. Dap should be a name that I can trust. If the product is that faulty, they should not put their name on it. I don’t have time or energy to mail it back and forth. Than you
Carol Perkins
