GripGo Handsfree cellphone mount

The GripGo hands free cellphone mount is a device intended to mount any mobile phone in your car to keep it in front of you while you are driving.

Partial transcript:

When your cellphone rings, do your eyes instantly go off the road?  Does turning the wheel make it slip, slide, and even hide?  Then you need to get a grip.  Hi, David Jones here with the new GripGo.  The most versatile hands-free mount that will instantly grip any phone for safe driving.  Just attach the suction cup to your windshield or dash and GripGo grabs your phone ultra fast.  Then look, it peels right off!  And don’t worry, there’s no sticky residue left behind.  With GripGo your phone stays securely in front of you so you can talk and safely at the same time.

Statements or claims:

The most versatile hands free mount:  The GripGo commercial does not offer any data to support the claim that the GripGo is the most versatile or even more versatile than any other mobile phone mount

Will virtually grip any phone for safe driving:  The reference to safe driving seems to be based on the assumption that not holding the phone in your hands makes driving safer.  The GripGo commercial offers no data to support this claim and recent studies have shown that the simple act of carrying on a conversation, even a hands free conversation is a distraction and may not be safe while driving

Other phone mounts are completed and cost up to $80:  Without specifying which other phone mounts this would be a meaningless comparison.

Guaranteed to grip any phone for a lifetime or your money back:  The GripGo guarantee only gives you the money back that you paid for the product cost.  Other fees such as taxes, shipping, and handling are not refunded.  It should also be taken into consideration that there is no guarantee that the GripGo company will still be in business 6 months or one year from now to honor the “lifetime” guarantee.

We’ll send you a second kit for another car, FREE:  In order to get your second kit, you may pay additional shipping, processing and handling charges, which are not free.

Summary:

The GripGo TV commercial makes several safety related claims but fails to provide any data, scientific or otherwise to substantiate those claims, makes meaningless comparisons to other products, and offers a money back guarantee which in reality does not give you all of your money back.  For a full review of the GripGo device, CLICK HERE.

I think you may have had a bad experience.

The problem with this product is that they don’t solve the problem of your phone not staying where you put it. It moves the problem from where the phone sticks to the mount to the windshield or dash where the mount itself sticks. Since the other end of the mount uses a regular generic suction cup, the phone stays right at the other end, but as soon as you get enough motion, the whole assembly tears free and your phone goes flying. Total deceptive fail.
