Statements and claims made, and what they really mean or say:
- What the commercial said: we have a mission, to set a world record by mailing out a million free sonic microderm facial brushes as quickly as possible. We’re calling it the Million Brush Mail-out and we want to include you. This free brush is yours just for trying our anti-aging breakthrough, Hydroxatone
- What some people might think that means: I can get this free facial brush and I don’t have to pay any money
- What it really means: The last part of the sentence “free brush is yours just for trying…Hydroxatone” means that even though the facial brush might be free, the “just for trying” part means that you must “try” (read: BUY) the Hydroxatone product, although up to this point there is no mention of any details or costs. Only after 37 seconds into this 60 second ad do we see in very fine-print “Free facial brush when you try Hydroxatone. Details apply“, and yet we are still given no details or information about the actual cost required to receive your ‘free’ brush. Only at approximately 6 seconds before the end of the commercial are we shown the following fine-print:
30 day risk free trial. Shipping and processing, return postage extra. Auto-ship and other terms and conditions apply.
From this fine print we learn that they are offering a 30 day, risk-fee trial, we will have to pay shipping and processing and postage, and there will be an “auto ship” requirement, but no actual cost information is provided.
- What the commercial said: This luxurious facial brush is valued at $60
- What some people might think that means: The free brush would cost me $60 if I wanted to buy one
Is the free facial brush really worth $60?
The commercial gives us no details about the brush so it is impossible to determine it’s true retail value, however a quick search at Amazon.com reveals several very similar, if not identical looking brushes ranging in price from approximately $12 to $35.
How much does Hydroxatone cost? / Is the facial brush really free?
The only way to determine the actual cost of Hydroxatone and the full details about getting your free brush is to visit the www.GetHydroxaTone.com or www.hydroxatonetrial.com website. There we can find the following details regarding cost and conditions:
Please send me Hydroxatone to try risk free for 30-days. I will be billed S&P $1.99 today. With the 30 Day Satisfaction Guarantee, I just have to call within 30 days of receipt and then have 2 weeks to return the products to avoid additional charges. If I keep the products, I will be billed two payments of $69.95, 30 days and 60 days following receipt of my shipment. Then unless I cancel, I will continue to receive a new 60 day supply every 2 months for $69.95 per month plus $7.95 S&P which will be billed to the card I provide today. By clicking “Yes! Start My Trial”, I authorize Hydroxatone to charge my card for each shipment as described above. Local and State sales tax may apply. I can call customer service at 1-800-672-2259 at any time to cancel. My 30 Day Satisfaction Guarantee covers every shipment of Hydroxatone.
What the conditions that you must agree to mean:
To get your free brush, you must authorize a $1.99 shipping and processing charge to your credit card immediately and authorize automatic shipments (and billing) of Hydroxatone every 6o days. If you do nothing, your credit card will be billed $139 over the next 2 months. After that, more Hydroxatone will be shipped, and you will be billed $77.90 every 60 days.
For each shipment you receive you can take advantage of the 30 Day Satisfaction Guarantee if you call to cancel within 30 days of the shipment. If you return the product you will not be refunded the $1.99 shipping fee (for the first shipment) or the $7.95 shipping fee for shipments after the first. You must also pay to ship the product back.
Summary:
This ad makes extensive use of the “we want to set a world record by mailing out free facial brushes” claim that some people may think is simply a ploy to fool viewers into spending $139 for their facial product. Many people might ask “why not just send us a free brush if you want to set a world record for sending free brushes?”.
Thak you so much for confirming what I had already suspected about their offer.
The comment about using a prepaid card with enough $ in it to us one these ‘free’ trials is precious.
We all know these days nothing is free. I knew there had to be a catch.
Were things free more often back in the day?
Scam! They just want your credit card info! I tried to cancel after paying for their free trail and I couldn’t do so! I had to change my account to break free of their crap! Thief’s!
Free BS! If you are satisfied with it you have to pay, so another words it isnt free!
I checked the site to see what the catch is…it really isn’t free. You have to pay for shipping so that isn’t free… then if you are satisfied with it then you are billed for it…That isn’t free… can you say HUGE SCAM!
they,,re are liars, their ad is fraud
I almost did this glad I looked at these comments
For companies like this, you have to get over on them, while they think they are getting over on you. Never give them your bank card information or checking account information, that you use as your primary banking needs. Purchase products you want try with a pre-paid debit card. Have enough money on the card to purchase the product. If you forget to cancel, they can’t charge a card without money on it. Saves the headache of trying to remember to cancel and them access to your personal bank account
Thanks for confirming what I already knew had to be a scam
Thanks from me too! I googled the site to see what it was about and found this. Very thorough report, btw!
Thanks for the info.
Thank you so much
Thanks so much
yes i figured it wasnt free they want to charge me 69.95 every month for the product and they say the serum was free but you have to send that back also within 30 days of delivery like we say now a days mothing is free until you pay something for it and if you pay for it it isnt free this company is just scamming women out there thank god i didnt click the button and order there product
SCAM……
Oops sorry I even wasted time to get the information contained in the hidden fees. LOL, NOT Free first pmt is s/h 2nd 70 dollars (rounded up) an then 30days another pmt. Lmao Free is a lie. Thanks but No thank you.
Every time a commercial announce you can get what ever their trying to pawn off on us FRRE. Then comes the words just pay a small shipping. And processing fee. Is false advertisement. I thought FREE means FREE. You not supposed to pay anything, Zip, Zero Zilch. It’s a con. How do they get by with this? Why do we let them?
Rest easy all you Lawyers, you will have company in Hell.
Thanks God I went on Google first and looked this up… I already felt scammed just watching the Ad then I went on Google, accidentally coz I was actually trying to get onto their website and thank God found this…. Damn!
I hate being lied to. I just knew something was off. The brush actually costs you more than symptoms its supposed to relieve. Now I’ll never purchase anything from them.
Yes, big scam these days. This happened to me with another product and learned my lesson, diet vitamins that was advertised by Dr.oz. Pay only 4.99 for the one type, second type 4.99. Plus shipping and handling. Well 2 weeks later they sent me another shipment and charged me twice 79.99. (wtf). I called and called. Happened that because they had it for like 10seconds at the end in the smallest lettering, I couldn’t get anything back, my bank had to give me a new account. What a headache and very stressful. I never ordered anything like that again. I just seen this commercial and decided to read this post because curiosity told me this was another scam. These companies suk. They should be honest, but into today’s world, honest companies are non existent. Funny now they are showing lipozrne. Same thing.
SCAM, NONE of it is free.
How can i cancel
Can these scams be stopped?!
Only if enough people complain! see this page here on this website about reporting: https://www.adfibs.com/who-oversees-tv-commercials-how-to-report-a-tv-commercial/
