The 2013 Commercial Of The Year award just might go to KFC for their 2013 Christmas ad, “Unite This Christmas”.  The ad, just released, makes fun of some of the traditional television holiday commercials and even pokes a bit of fun at themselves in this full-lenght music-video style ad.  KFC is also expecting the commercial to go viral so they have already blessed it with the #UniteThisXmas hashtag.

There are two very important items in the Unite This Christmas commercial that really make it stand out above others:

1) KFC bravely and proudly uses the word, and celebrates “Christmas” instead using the weaker and more politically correct term, “holidays”

2) Everyone in the ad pronounces the word herbs as “herbs”, instead of the correct pronunciation, “herbs”.

Singing Christmas songs, KFC style!

Lyrics to the KFC Christmas Song:

Ohhh Ohhh.. Yeahhh.

I almost tore your hair out for the last doll in the store

But the things that once divided us don’t matter any more

We showed up at your house again, singing all our stupid songs

Normally I’d hose you down, but now it just seems wrong

Let’s come together at Christmas time put all our differences aside

One thing on which we all agree, the delicious taste of KFC

Typically I hate your guts and I tried to kill you but

One of everybody’s vices is 11 herbs and spices

Ohhh whooo hooo.. Seasoned meat

I scream and cry and then I leave a wet-spot on your knee

But this year your behavior doesn’t bother me

Our over zealous snowball fight will cost you hundreds in repairs

And though we’d usually sue your parents, now we just don’t care

Let’s come together at Christmas time putting all our differences aside

Because one of everybody’s vices is 11 herbs and spices

Eleven months a year you drive me mad, this year you don’t seem so bad

One thing on which we all agree, the delicious taste of KFC

Let’s come together at Christmas time putting all our differences aside

Because one of everybody’s vices is 11 herbs and spices

Eleven months a year you drive me mad, this year you don’t seem so bad

One thing on which we all agree, the delicious taste of KFC

If watching the 2013 KFC Christmas Music Video does not bring tears to your eyes, you are a monster!

I can’t understand how any ad that refers to Christian Carols celebrating the birth of Christ as ‘stupid’ gets away with it!

‘We showed up at your house again, singing all our stupid songs’

If they had refered to the Muslim call to prayer as such there would have been an outcry.

I am not religious but how can a major corporation aprove such an ad?

Re: #2 Herbs should ALWAYS be pronounced with the H. The H is NEVER silent in Herbs. Ever.
