Claims made and what they mean:
- What the commercial said: Standing on your feet all day can cause swollen ankles and radiating leg pain but Ankle Genie provides the ankle support you need to relive swelling.
- What most people would think this means: Ankle Genie will relive my swelling and leg pain
- What it really means: The announcer does infer that it will relieve swelling, but never does it say it will have any impact on reducing or stopping leg pain
- What the Collette L. said: my doctor told me I could not fly without wearing compression socks. These zipped right on, 6 hours later I arrived at my destination happy and healthy.
- What most people would think this means: She was able to fly for 6 hours and her ankles did not swell because she was wearing the Ankle Genies
- What it really means: Collette said she arrived at her destination healthy and happy. She did not say that her ankles did not swell or that the Ankle Genie prevented, helped, or did anything.
- What the announcer claims: Ankle Genie is ideal for relieving ankle swelling and it provides exquisite relief any time your ankle swells from fluid retention, varicose veins or poor circulation
- What the average person would think this means: Ankle Genie will stop swelling in my ankles
- The actual meaning: This claim is clear, and other than some ambiguity with the use of the word “exquisite”, it does appear that Ankle Genie is claiming that it will relieve swelling in the ankle cause by varicose veins, bad circulation or fluid retention.
- What the commercial said: get the Ankle Genie for just $12.99
- What the average person would think this means: I can get an Ankle Genie and I only need to spend $12.99
- How much the Ankle Genie really costs: Even though the announcer does not mention it, on the screen, in extremely small and difficult to read fine-print we can see “Plus S&H” next to the giant “$12.99”. This means that in addition to the price of $12.99 you must also pay an additional “shipping and handling” fee, but nowhere in the commercial are we told how much that fee costs. It is only after looking at the AnkleGenie.com website that we are able to find that the cost for shipping and handling is $6.99. This means that your $12.99 Ankle Genie will cost you (12.99+6.99) $19.98.
- What the commercial said: you can double your order. Get the support you need for each ankle. That’s two Ankle Genies an incredible value, yours for $12.99
- What most people would think this means: I can get two Ankle Genies and I only need to spend $12.99
- How much the Ankle Genie really costs: This time on the screen we can see “pay separate fee” in small print, then again in extremely small fine print “plus S&H & separate fee”, but as with the previous claim about the cost, the cost for these fees is not shown or mentioned. It is only after reading through the www.AnkleGenie.com website that we can find that the actual cost for your two Ankle Genies for $12.99 will be ($12.99+$6.99+$6.99) $26.97 – over double what the TV commercial says it will cost.
Is the Ankle Genie $12.99 or $10.00?
At the end of the TV commercial, for 16 seconds of the 120 second long version of this commercial, and after being told several times that the cost of the Ankle Genie is only $12.99, we are shown that the price is $10 (as shown in this screen image of the TV commercial).

The TV commercial clearly says $10, after being told several times the price is $12.99
Because of the multiple times the announcer and screen-graphics tell us the cost is $12.99 throughout this ad, showing a price of $10 may be an error possibly “left over” from a previous lower-cost version of the commercial. It is also possible that this is another deceptive method of tricking viewers into thinking the product is only $10. We do not know if TeleBrands Corp (the company that sells the Ankle Genie) would honor the $10 price if asked/pressed.
Summary:
This commercial uses some wording that many people may feel is deceptive and a price tag that in reality is over double what is claimed.
Ordered one for $12.99 + 1 FREE…paid $26.97 for both, which included $6.99 x 2 for S & H…my husband has worn one so far on his ‘bad’ ankle, which was VERY DIFFICULT TO GET ZIPPED UP. THEN TODAY WHILE TRYING TO ZIP IT UP THE ZIPPER BROKE..OF COURSE WEE DO NOT STILL HAVE THE ORIGINAL PACKAGING IN WHICH TO RETURN IT. “Do yourself a favor, SAVE Your. Money,”.
Not a happy person! TV ad said 100 percent guarantee. What they didn’t say was it had to be in 30days! The ankle genie is too tight on my foot. That alone will cause swelling. The company will not stand behind their guarantee. I will never order from this place again. Buyer beware!

Ankle Genie has unprofessional operation from ordering to shipping. Hope that the money returns is not part of your unprofessional issues. I am moving forward on all network sites to let others know that you (ankle genie) is extremely un professional on handling your business with customers.
Michael
