Pure Sleep anti snoring device “sleep all night”. Available from www.PURESLEEP.com
In this commercial we see real PureSleep customers telling us how after using the Pure Sleep device they can finally sleep through the entire night.
What they say in this TV ad:
(Announcer, over the sound of snoring): Would you like to put a stop to your snoring? So you can both go to sleep, and stay asleep, every night? Then you want Pure Sleep, the number one selling snoring solution in the world.
Common snoring is caused when the airway is constricted, causing the soft-pallet to vibrate. PureSleep is a patented, self-molding mouth piece, cleared by the FDA, which holds the jaw slightly forward opening up the airway so that the snoring stops. In these CT scans you can see the constricted airway (before and after CT scans of the airway are shown). Now, look how Pure Sleep opens that airway.
Pure Sleep’s technique of advancing the jaw to reduce snoring has been clinically demonstrated by leading research studies at leading universities. Pure Sleep is safe, and easy to custom fit for maximum comfort. Breathing is normal. Sprays and nose strips are ineffective because they can’t open the airway in your throat. Don’t be fooled by imitators that can’t be adjusted. Made in the USA, only PureSleep has 3 adjustable positions.
Pure Sleep has been successfully prescribed by dentists and physicians for over 10 years and is guaranteed to stop your snoring, right away. To prove it, we’ll let you try it for 30 days before you buy it. All you do is cover the shipping and handling. Plus, for a limited time we’ll give you a second PureSleep with travel case for free.
(Customer testimonials by “real, unpaid PureSleep users”): I’m sleeping through the night and so is he, and we’re waking up with more energy and not waking up in the middle of the night to say “shh”. That is just the astounding thing, I have not snored and so, this thing (holding up a Pure Sleep mouth piece). It’s easy to use, easy to mold, it works like a charm. Pure Sleep started working the very first night. It’s small, it’s comfortable. You don’t even know you have it in.
Some of the claims and statements made in this ad and their real meaning:
- What the announcer said: Would you like to put a stop to your snoring? So you can both go to sleep, and stay asleep, every night? Then you want Pure Sleep
- What some people might think that means: Pure Sleep will stop my snoring
- What it actually says: This is not a statement, it is a question: “Would you like to stop your snoring?”. It then tells us that if you do want to stop your snoring, you will want the Pure Sleep device, but at this point, it does not say that Puresleep will actually make you stop snoring.
- What the commercial claimed: the number one selling snoring solution in the world
- What some people might think that means: It’s the best selling anti-snoring device so it must work
- What it actually means: In fine print we can see that this sales claim is made “by sales since 2007”, which would indicated that it has sold more than any other anti-snoring solution. However some people would point out that “best selling” does not necessarily mean “most effective” or “best working”. Some would point out that sales could be more directly related to advertising budgets than effectiveness.
- What the commercial says: Common snoring is caused when the airway is constricted, causing the soft-pallet to vibrate. PureSleep is a patented, self-molding mouth piece.. holds the jaw slightly forward opening up the airway so that the snoring stops
- What some people might think that means: The Pure Sleep will stop by snoring because it holds my jaw open
- What it actually means: The Puresleep does claim that it works by holding the jaw forward to reduce or prevent snoring, but the commercial specifies “common snoring”. If your snoring is caused by anything other than the common, restricted airway, the Puresleep may not be effective as indicated by the wording used.
- What the commercial says: PureSleep is a patented, self-molding mouth piece, cleared by the FDA
- What some people might think that means: It is approved by the FDA
- What it actually means: The wording and fine-print used is “cleared by FDA”, which may not be the same as “approved by the FDA to treat or cure snoring”. Later in the commercial the fine print “statements not endorsed by the FDA” is also shown. Additionally, we can see the fine-print “Not intended to treat any disease” and “Results may vary” would could mean that it may not work for anything other than ‘common’ snoring, and ‘results may vary’, which could be understood to also mean “it might not work for you”.
- What the commercial says: Pure Sleep’s technique of advancing the jaw to reduce snoring has been clinically demonstrated by leading research studies at leading universities
- What some people might think that means: Puresleep has been proven to work by clinical studies
- What it might really mean: The announcer and the text shown on the screen both say “..has been clinically demonstrated by leading research studies at leading universities..” It does not say “proven” nor does the commercial give us any other details about the clinical demonstrations or the results. There are however links to studies and articles provided at the puresleep.com website.
- What the commercial says: .. guaranteed to stop your snoring, right away. To prove it, we’ll let you try it for 30 days before you buy it. All you do is cover the shipping and handling. Plus, for a limited time we’ll give you a second PureSleep with travel case for free.
- What some people might think that means: If it does not stop my snoring I will get my money back / I can try it for free if I cover the shipping and handling
- What it might really mean: The www.puresleep.com website does specify that if within 30 days you are not happy with the device they will replace it or refund your money, however there is no mention of the refund includes the shipping and handling fee. There does not appear to be any additional or hidden charges for the second, free Pure Sleep device.
How much does the Pure Sleep cost?
According to the www.PURESLEEP.com website, the Pure Sleep price is $59.90 plus $9.95 for shipping and handling. The total cost of the Pure Sleep will be $69.85 ($59.90 + $9.95)
Summary:
This commercial for PureSleep makes use of some minor deceptive wording and fine print that may confuse some people. The guarantee and “try for 30 days, free” offer appears to have no other hidden costs or fees. Most of the wording in this ad seems legit!
