Phillips Colon Health / The Phillips Lady on a double-decker bus
In this commercial, one of several featuring The Phillips Lady, she explains the benefits of using Phillips Colon Health to everyone riding on a double-decker bus. The name of the actress that plays The Phillips Lady is Marge Royce.
What the Phillips Lady says:
(Phillips Lady): Anyone have occasional constipation, diarrhea, gas, bloating? One Phillips Colon Health probiotic cap each day helps defend against these digestive issues. With three strains of good bacteria. Live the regular life. Phillips.
Claims The Phillips Lady makes:
- What the commercial said: One Phillips Colon Health probiotic cap each day helps defend against these [occasional constipation, diarrhea, gas, bloating] digestive issues
- What some people might think that means: If I take these pills, I wont get any constipation, diarrhea, gas, or bloating / I can eat whatever I want and won’t get constipation, diarrhea, bloating or gas.
- What it really means: The Phillips Lady is referring to “occasional” digestive issues not caused by bad food, over eating, etc – presumably by people prone to occasional digestive problems. At no point does she say that Phillips Colon Health will cure or prevent these issues, rather, it will “help defend against” them. “Help defend against” is not the same as “will cure” or “will prevent”.
